Taganka Theatre from Moscow performed in the framework of the International Theatre Festival of Ancient Greek Drama – 2003 in Cyprus

The performances are always of high quality and diversity. Each year the applications for participation increase giving the organizers the opportunity to select the best possible performances, therefore upgrading the Festival.

Taganka Theatre, one of the world's most famous theatre companies, opened the Festival with a production of Euripides' "Medea".

The director, Yuri Lyubimov, portrayed the heroine as neither a witch nor a worshipper of evil, but as a woman torn between love and fate who finally decides to murder her children, as she believes that this is the only solution left to her.
