KYPRIA – 2003
The Moscow State Musical Theatre "Helikon Opera" was the company that participated in the Kypria International Festival 2003.
Its contemporary production of "Carmen" brought a new air to the traditional performances. The opera takes place in modern times giving it a new dimension. It was undoubtedly the best participation in "Kypria" during that year.
"Kypria" is an annual Festival established in 1991 by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus. It takes place during the months of September and October. Its aim is to make Cyprus a centre of cultural events in the eastern Mediterranean, present the Cyprus public with a variety of high caliber performances by internationally acclaimed companies and attract foreign visitors interested in cultural events.
Some of the companies that participated are:
Oxford Symphony Orchestra (Great Britain), the Rambert Dance Company – one of the oldest English ballet company, the Symphony Orchestra of the National Radio of Romania, the Orchestra of the High Musical School of Bonn (Germany), The Greek National Theatre, the Compania Andaluzia Flamenco (Spain).
