Anshlag in Cyprus – 2001
On the 1st of May 2001 on the occasion of the celebration of the Russian Spring and Labour holiday the concert of one of the most popular Russian TV show-programs with a new performance "Guess Who Wins!" took place at the "Patichio" Amphitheatre in Larnaka.
The famous presenter and creator of the show, Regina Dubovizkaya, was the judge of the show and the well-known comic Vladimir Vinokur, acted as host of the programme. Competing were the very popular comedians – Sergey Drobotenko, Gennady Vetrov, Nikolya Lukinsky, Lion Izmaylov as well as the comic group "Ex BB".
The Mayor of Larnaka and Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Cyprus addressed the audience that had filled the amphitheatre.
The Mayor of Larnaka said that it was a great pleasure that it was a great honour for the town to host such an event. The TV programme "Anshlag" was part of the large scale project "Cyprus Year on Russian Television" a project that promote Cyprus through television to a large audience. In his address the Russian Ambassador noted that the Russian artists brought a real feast of humor and high spirits to Cyprus.
